Christ sits by a well in the centre of a landscape scene. He is dressed in long red robes. He sits on a dark blue cloth draped over the wall of the well, with his right arm leaning against a rock. The well is on the right and a rope for th bucket is tied to a rock in the foreground. On the left, behind Christ, is a flight of steps. A woman dressed in long blue robes and carrying a water urn on her head descends the steps. In the background are two stone walls and in the distance is a town. The figures are surrounded by lush vegetation and just behind Christ, on the right, is the trunk of a large tree.
