Description
Cox was the most famous Birmingham artist of the mid-nineteenth century, with a national reputation for his lively landscape paintings. He also painted urban architecture, in this watercolour he concentrates on the busy horse market, the buildings are hinted at in the background.

This is one of a large number of his watercolours held in the collection of Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
