Description

Stanhope Forbes studied painting in France returning to England, to become a leading member of the Newlyn School, Cornwall. His best known paintings are large, realistic scenes of everyday life in the fishing villages of Cornwall. After exhibition at the Royal Academy, this work was shown at the Paris Salon where it was awarded a Gold Medal.
