'Red Lion Mary' was the servant at 17 Red Lion Square, where William Morris and Burne-Jones lived from November 1856 to Spring 1859. Mary had a good relationship with Burne-Jones, and also with Rossetti who visited the house often. Georgiana Burne-Jones' Memorials contain affectionate stories of her friendship with the three men.
