Description

1953P363 Stormy Sea with Castle Ruin and Figures, Paul Sandby, late 18th century. The influence of Claude Lorrain (c.1604/5-1682) is apparent in this dramatic and highly finished watercolour. Unusually the painting is done on a wooden panel rather than paper, giving it the appearence of an oil painting
